DEGRADATION RESISTANT EFFECT PIGMENTS
Auto Degradation New 2012

Newer paint application systems subject coatings containing aluminum pigments to tremendous shear forces.  These mechanical forces can have the tendency of dulling the metallic appearance of the final coating by breaking and deforming the individual aluminum flakes.  Silberline's TUFFLAKE® pigments are designed to resist degradation due to paint circulation pumps and regulators and maintain their targeted appearance.  First commercialized in 1986, these products are lenticular and thicker than standard aluminum flakes and retain face and flop aesthetics after paint circulation.  Today, TUFFLAKE pigments are used in coatings supplied to major automotive manufacturers around the world.
