In response to concerns related to the use of phthalates in plastics, Silberline is phasing out the use of DIDP (diisodecyl phthalate) as a carrier for our SILVEX products. DIDP used in Silberline SILVEX products will be replaced with dioctyl adipate (DOA). This change does not affect our SILVEX products manufactured using mineral oil as the pigment carrier.
On April 1, 2009, Silberline introduced three SILVEX grades carried in DOA. These three grades are:
- SILVEX 225-20-DOA
- SPARKLE SILVEX® 795-20-DOA
- SPARKLE SILVEX 760-20-DOA
The current grades carried in DIDP will be available for a transition period to allow for customer testing and approval of the DOA carried products. After the transition period is complete, the DIDP versions will no longer be available. Additional SILVEX products currently carried in DIDP will be made available in DOA based on customer demand.
Silberline in Leven, Scotland discontinued using DIDP effective April 1, 2009. After that date, SILVEX products previously made with DIDP will be provided in DOA.
