ET-2271 Aluminium Pigment

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

– Specially formulated for creating pearlescent effects

-Coarse particle size

-Exceptionally bright aluminium flake pigment

-Low dusting, Dry granular form

-Wide polymer compatibility

PRODUCT APPLICATION

ET2271 presents a very bright, coarse particle size grade of aluminum flake, in an easily handled, low dusting, granular form. The carrier resin has been chosen to provide compatibility with a wide range of thermoplastics, including styrenics, polyolefins, polyamides, polyesters and acetal polymers. It may also be suitable for certain grades of EVA, polycarbonate and PVC, but compatibility tests are recommended.

INCORPORATION GUIDELINES

ET2271 has been formulated to provide colored pearlescent effects when combined with organic and inorganic pigments and dyestuffs. To create such an appearance, light reflection is required from depth within the polymer. This is achieved by concentrations of ET2271 as low as 0.02 – 0.2% by weight. As the whiteness of pearl effects using this grade is limited by the color of the aluminum itself, ET2271 is likely to find most use in simulating the deeper pearlescent shades. Such formulations are extremely cost effective due to the very low concentrations required. This grade provides a coarser appearance than the related ET2018.

Like all flake pigments, optimum color and brightness will be obtained by incorporating ET2271 under conditions of good mixing, but low shear. For applications such as sheet and film, requiring the highest degree of dispersion, it may be necessary to prepare an intermediate masterbatch.

SAFETY AND HANDLING

Aluminum pigment should be stored in the original shipping container and kept tightly sealed. Store containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, and properly rated area. Avoid any conditions that will suspend or float the particles in the air, creating a dust cloud. Avoid all possible sources of ignition. For additional information, please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product, available from Silberline upon request. An SDS is supplied with all samples of this grade.
