AQUAVEX® NL Premier 011 Aluminum Pigment

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

AQUAVEX NL Premier 011 contains fine particle size, extremely bright, non-leafing aluminum flake pigment, in a low dusting, easily handled form. It combines in one product, easy dispersibility and gassing stability. It is essentially free of hydrocarbon solvents, but contains a passivating agent to minimize the release of hydrogen gas that can occur when aluminum flake is in contact with water. Surfactants contribute to both the low dusting property and easy dispersibility in water.

-Fine particle size aluminum flake pigment

-Non-leafing

-Solvent free

-Passivated paste for water-based applications

-Extremely bright silver effect

PRODUCT APPLICATION

Suggested applications for AQUAVEX NL Premier 011 are water-based inks and some water-based industrial paints. AQUAVEX NL Premier 011 has also been found to be of limited use in UV curing systems although compatibility and stability testing is recommended.

INCORPORATION GUIDELINES

The recommended method of dispersion is to soak the granules in 1-2 times their weight of water, then mix gently to a creamy consistency, free of agglomerates by low shear stirring. When completely dispersed, the balance of the formulation may be slowly added under gentle but efficient agitation. To avoid damage to the pigment flakes that could induce gassing and reduce the metallic effect, agitation should be efficient but low shear. If it is necessary to use high shear to dissolve or disperse any component of the binder, this should be done before introducing the aluminum pigment. The final pH should be as close to neutral as possible. As the water stability of this grade is very system dependent, small-scale trials are recommended to verify the required level of performance.

SAFETY AND HANDLING

Aluminum pigment should be stored in the original shipping container and kept tightly sealed. Store containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, and properly rated area. Avoid any conditions that will suspend or float the particles in the air, creating a dust cloud. Avoid all possible sources of ignition. For additional information, please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product, available from Silberline upon request. An SDS is supplied with all samples of this grade.
