SILVET® 330-20-E Aluminum Pigment

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

SILVET 330-20-E is a very fine particle size aluminum pigment produced in pellet form to reduce the potential for generating airborne pigment particles and to improve ease of handling. SILVET grades with an “E” suffix are more economical than SILVET “E1” grades and have similar ease of handling, but have slightly duller metallic effects and require more aggressive processing conditions for complete dispersion. This is an economical grade and can be used to create a gray masstone metallic appearance with good opacity at low cost. This grade is not recommended for use with chromatic pigments as it will not produce clean color effects. Although this grade is based on a leafing aluminum pigment, it will not exhibit leafing characteristics in most plastic applications. SILVET 330-20-E is suitable for use in both plastics and powder coatings applications.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

SILVET E grades are economical aluminum pigments provided in pellet form for easy handling and incorporation. They are compatible with a variety of polymers, particularly polyolefins. They are typically used to make concentrates or compounds for use in final processing by injection molding, extrusion, blow molding or blown film processes. Because of their high aluminum pigment concentration and highly compacted form, they are recommended for use in masterbatch or compounding processes where enough shear exists to completely disperse the aluminum pigment. They are not recommended for use directly in end-use processing.

INCORPORATION GUIDELINES

It is normally sufficient to tumble blend the pellets with the base resin and any additional colorants or additives before processing. Incorporation techniques should not subject the flakes to high shear forces.

SAFETY AND HANDLING

Aluminum pigment should be stored in the original shipping container and kept tightly sealed. Store containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, and properly rated area. Avoid any conditions that will suspend or float the particles in the air, creating a dust cloud. Avoid all possible sources of ignition. For additional information, please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product, available from Silberline upon request. An SDS is supplied with all samples of this grade.
