Extra SPARKLE SILVET® 600-10-E1 Aluminum Pigment

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Extra SPARKLE SILVET 600-10-E1 is an aluminum pigment having a spherical pigment particle geometry. This grade is manufactured with a highly polished surface producing unique shimmering metallic “pin point sparkle” effects unlike those of traditional aluminum flake pigments. These effects are best developed when using Extra SPARKLE SILVET 600-10-E1 in clear or semi-transparent polymers. Having very low opacity, this grade can be used to produce highly chromatic, 3-D metallic sparkle effects when used with transparent pigments or dyes in clear polymers. In addition, Extra SPARKLE SILVET 600-10-E1 can be used in combination with traditional lamellar aluminum pigments to produce a range of metallic sparkle effects. Because of its low opacity compared to standard lamellar pigments, slight variations in pigment loading, including that of accompanying chromatic pigments, will result in observable variations in color and metallic effect. Care must be taken to assure pigment loading and chromatic pigment strength are tightly controlled in the final color formulation.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

Extra SPARKLE SILVET 600-10-E1 is compatible with a variety of polymers including polyolefins and styrenics. The best effects are developed when used with clear polymers. Care must be taken to minimize shear during processing as excess shear will deform the pigment and result in noticeable color variations. Extra SPARKLE SILVET 600-10-E1 is typically used in the manufacture of color concentrates or compounds which are processed by injection molding, extrusion or thermoforming applications.

INCORPORATION GUIDELINES

It is normally sufficient to tumble blend the pellets with the base resin and any additional colorants or additives before processing. Incorporation techniques should not subject the flakes to high shear forces.

SAFETY AND HANDLING

Aluminum pigment should be stored in the original shipping container and kept tightly sealed. Store containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, and properly rated area. Avoid any conditions that will suspend or float the particles in the air, creating a dust cloud. Avoid all possible sources of ignition. For additional information, please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product, available from Silberline upon request. An SDS is supplied with all samples of this grade.
